PRP What is it?

Why do we use PRP or Protein Rich Plasma for our patients?

Besides the obvious reason that it promotes faster healing in oral surgery, there are other five basic reasons to use PRP:

- Safety
- Bio-compatibility
- Ease of use
- Cost effective
- Clinical Results

Safety

To derive PRP, all we have to do is draw blood.  The procedure is extremely safe and not painful for the patient.  Its like donating blood at a local blood bank or blood drive.  After the blood is drawn, its is placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at a certain tilted degree.  This measurement is so tigthly guarded, that its degree and spin duration has been patented by the inventor, Dr. Choukren, a French physician associated with treating car accident victims.

Bio-compatibility

We know that it is compatible with patients body, since it is derived from patient's native cell.

Ease of Use

After the cells are derived, the layer rich with PRP is easily manipulated clinically to any shape or form to act as a natural band-aid.  Remember, PRP is the clot that makes the entire wound heal faster.

Cost Effective

Since it is derived directly from patient's blood there is little cost to other than the materials and time used in deriving the rich element.

Clinical Results

Our experience with PRP has been beyond fantastic!  The healing rate is doubled and most importantly, the pain is very little in any procedure that is followed with PRP, since its body driven natural healing clot.
